“a personal project with the aim of perpetuating positivity…a motivational movement offering points of perspectives that might shift thought and action”
“Dear Me,” came about as a personal project with the aim of perpetuating positivity. It is a motivational movement offering points of perspective that might shift thought and action.
It started with a card. A bundle of blank white business cards were found in the craft section of a thrift store. There was a random card tye-dying video that had been perused months previous and in this moment it came to mind. So the stack of about 50 cards were purchased for fifty cents, a cent a piece. The tye-dye project occurred, though results were far from the likes of the video. Now the what to do with fifty slightly warped cards that had a faded water-color like effect to them. Thus, Dear Me was formed.
When travelling to see some friends, these cards were brought. There was this idea that had formed. The idea of spreading a little positivity through positive messages written on the cards and left in random places through the cities explored. The messages written ranged from classic familiar quotes to fresh and interesting perspectives, humorous insights, or even a simple yet profound question asked.
The idea of the positive message on the card was for it to sound like the best version of yourself was giving you a pep-talk through this unique quote on the card. Thats was when the salutation “Dear Me” was placed on the cards. This made it seem like who ever read it was speaking to themself.
Over time, and a feeling of successfully contributing to the perpetuation of positivity, “Dear Me” became an ongoing and expanded personal project. “Business Cards” in the format of “Dear Me” with room for messages were designed and acquired; And the positivity was perpetuated ongoing.
At some point this blog space was purchased and “Dear Me Motivations” was formed. The idea was an online format of spewing and perpetuating positivity in the realm of the internet. Here, on this blog space, These moments of positivity and motivation aim to be short readings, listening, viewings, delivered through various mediums. They may include quotes and words of wisdom from history’s great thinkers, poetry, videos, songs, and personal thoughts. In the end, so long as there is a little more positivity perpetuated, success will be had.
